Page history last edited by PBworks 2 yrs ago
A device that can read text or illustrations printed on paper and translate the information into a form the computer can use. A scanner works by digitizing an image.

  • Scanners can be flat bed or sheet feed
  • Wide format scanners are available to scan larger images
  • The key factor in judging scanners is resolution – the higher the resolution, the higher the quality of the image
  • 600 x 600 resolution is found on cheaper scanners – look for at least 1200 x 1200 for better quality
  • Research scanners at www.cnet.com and www.pcworld.com
  • Some scanners can scan film negatives. See here to read reviews and/or to purchase http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_slc.asp?CatId=297
